Thank you Jody Day, Claudia Buzzetti, Mitlé Southey, Madeleine Urion, Julie Dunstan, and many, many others for tuning into my live video with Marianne Williamson, much-loved spiritual teacher and former US Presidential candidate.
This was a lively chat about how the spiritual is always political, particularly in times of crisis. We are absolutely being called upon to get vigilant and deliberate with our spiritual practices (which you might prefer to call living heartfully, or morally or in philosophical alignment). She uses the phrase “ being a spiritual athlete”.
Sadly the tech gremlins got to us 32 minutes in and we weren’t able to get to her new book Midlife Awakening: Creating a Miraculous Next Chapter, all about how mid-life women are - and have always been - primed for a moment like this one. She does get to discuss her female hyena thesis before we sign off (make sure you listen to the end). If you like, I’ll get Marianne back on to talk this through in more detail. And to get to some of your concerns about selective activism.
A bit about Marianne:
She has been a leader of spiritually progressive circles for more than four decades. She is the author of 16 books, four of which have been #1 New York Times bestsellers. Most famously A Return to Love. She is no doubt America’s most well-known public voices who weds spirituality and politics, having appeared on Oprah, Larry King Live, Good Morning America, and Bill Maher.
She’s founded a bunch of philanthropic movements and ran for President twice, in 2020 and 2024.
Details of her 2026 Australian Tour
She’ll be running workshops on this idea of using spiritual practice to handle these torrid times in Australia in 2026.
Please do share you feedback on this conversation…your comments always guide me on where I head next here.
