I’m releasing a UK version of This One Wild and Precious Life and I’d love love love you to preorder a copy if you think it’s a book you’d like have in your hands (if you live in the UK). Why? Because preorders set an author up. I don’t like the system, but that’s how it is. Booksellers see preorder numbers and buy more copies for their stores. Which begets more copies in more people’s hands. Which is what I wish for dearly. And I’ll be upfront here…I don’t make coin on this edition until all costs of production and release are paid (which may or may not happen).
Also, if you preorder you get your copy a week before everyone else.
I’d also love love love you to share this idea (preordering) with all your mates (if you have a bunch in the UK) and perhaps said mates it’s a worthy read (if you think it is).
OK. So this special edition is a paperback release in the UK, to make it more affordable. And it has a fresh cover…see below. The whole book is currently being tweaked and enhanced by me to ensure it’s fully updated by the time it gets to you.
Oliver Burkeman, author of 4000 Weeks, says this:
‘I’ve encountered no other book that articulates with so much passion or clarity the unique feeling of this moment in history. This One Wild and Precious Life is the ideal guidebook for our long overdue journey back to nature, to each other, and to sanity in the deepest sense of the word.’
Which is nice. You can listen to my Wild chat with Oliver here.
The legendary psychoanalyst James Hollis sent this to me after reading it:
‘Sarah Wilson is a traveller of worlds, outer and inner. And her reports from the journey are both intensely personal and germane to a sick and distracted world. In the midst of the collective malaise, she zeros in on her determination to live her life, not someone else’s, and on the work to which we are all summoned if this species is to survive. Her work is, as the world is, both wild and precious’
And Elizabeth Gilbert says she loved it, too:
‘Sarah Wilson is a force of nature – quite literally. She has taken her pain and grief about our sick and troubled world and alchemised it into action, advocacy, adventure, poetry and true love. She’s a great teacher and a great leader, and I admire her with all my soul’
I won't go on…you can read more about the book in this link below (there’s also an extract of the first few pages there).
Once again, please do preorder the bejesus out of this. I’m betting it will be a pertinent read after what I think we all know will be a climate-changed Summer.
Thank you in advance. And sorry to ask in such a sales-y, yellow-button-y way.
Sarah xx
Love the tangerine, Sarah. Trust it sells well in the UK. xx
You have nothing to apologise for, Sarah! It's the world we live in that dictates this pressure! And I love the cover 😊
