Hi Sarah, could I ask a question around how you manage your energy? You seem to get so very much done, but you've also written about the days when your autoimmune disease takes you out. I'm coming back from surgery and I'm just so damn tired all the time, now I'm working again, and feel guilty for not being more effective. There is so much good, important work to do, after all.

I recently saw a quote that read, "Learn to manage your energy, more than your time", and I'd be really interested in your take, especially cause you've also got a medical element to contend with.

PS. Sorry to hear your London experience wasn't great. I live there and I know what you mean about the pace. Frequent escapes for walks in the countryside are what keeps me sane!

Hi Sarah! I’m curious how you navigate the balance between travelling and being so busy with work (which I imagine itself has many elements of travel within australia alone) and also being a foster carer. I seen in some of your previous Insta posts about having a young girl stay with you for quite a while. Has she now aged out of care? Or is there an arrangement between yourself and another carer for when you are away? In general, are you mostly open to short term/ crisis placements? And how do you manage the boundaries that need to be set with this?

How do you manage your desire to care and foster with your desire to travel and be free?

I’m not asking this is a negative manner, I’m genuinely curious and I also work in that industry so I find this part of your life vey interesting :)

Kelly x

Hi

I am curious about how you navigate big transitions, I recently heard the term “transition anxiety” and ” termination anxiety” when we know something is coming to an end and yet we can’t let go of the old life and aren’t ready to step into the new life (hence why it took 2 years to quit my job haha)

I know you’ve made big changes or choices with leaving jobs, closing businesses etc so how do you navigate the messy middle?

I also had a friend who called it “the fertile void” when you are just seeing what comes up in the space you have created

I am interested in your self care of practical steps for navigating the unknown

Hi Sarah, my question is about psychedelics. What do you think about them? Can they help us heal and connect to nature? Have you seen or read Michael Pollan's work on this?

Also podcast recommendation - Rob Greenfield. He's a climate activist in the US. He's definitely got some pretty cool wild ideas!

Thanks, Anna :)

So many great questions here! Sarah, I’m also an admirer of your work. I would love to know what steps you put in place to follow and purse the road less travelled. And similar to some of the other questions here, I’m keen to know how you navigate and move towards new transitions (even if it feels uncertain and scary/fearful) especially when they go against the norm? Particularly with regards to leaving a job or changing careers for health reasons and taking the plunge towards a more authentic way of life and one that perhaps is more sustainable in terms of health and well-being. Just listened to your podcast with Katherine May!! So good.

How wonderful to see you enjoying time with family in the healing lands of Devon. Seeing as you are in the UK (my mother is from Devon, one of my favourite places on Earth!) I also have a podcast suggestion...Dr Iain McGilchrist. He is a psychiatrist and wrote an incredible book - The Master and his Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Modern World. It absolutely blew my mind! As a psychologist I am deeply interested in the field of interpersonal neurobiology and Iain has really broadened this out to weave an incredible tapestry of human history through this fascinating lens. One of my key takeaways from his book is the importance of metaphor in human language and communication...I've really come to respect how this is linked with the ways in which we are 'of these lands'. You may well be familiar with Iain and his work already!
