UK TOUR DATES: I'm coming to London, let's meet!
advance tickets plus GOSH I need some advice and ideas from you
The past few months I’ve been working on rewriting This One Wild and Precious Life to give it a refreshed British-specific spin. It’s now all updated and heading to printers and will be landing in bookstores across the UK and Ireland in early September. So I’m heading over that way from Paris to launch the thing, to meet some of you guys and to spread the wild climate word a wee bit. All rather pertinent timing, right?
First, get a signed copy of the book!
If you preorder here, I’ll sign a copy for you and it will be sent out to you on the day of publication. Plus, I’ll be grateful; pre-orders help authors get a chance at success. They are the ultimate sign of support!
Exclusive invite: The official launch at The National Portrait Gallery
I’m extending this invite to you all here in my Substack community exclusively. It’s the swanky “offical launch” and there are very limited tickets.
This Wild Reads and Aperitif evening will be held at the brand new Audrey Green bar and restaurant at the stunning National Portrait Gallery. It’s an all-Australian affair - the owner of Audrey Green is Australian Prue Freeman. Do come! It will be fun… and a great way to meet you all.
Time: 5 September 2023 6:30-8:30pm
Tickets: It’s ten quid, to cover a glass of Australian organic wine or apéritif and some small bites.
More bookshop events across the UK
If you miss out on the above, or can’t make that date, I will be releasing a bunch of dates for QnA sessions in cute bookshops in coming days.
31 August, Oxford: Blackwell Bookshop, 6-8pm
This will be an “in conversation” chaired by author Sally Bailey. You can secure your seat here.
2 September, Wendover: Real Magic Books, 6.30-8.30pm
Details TK
4 September, Bristol: Stanfords, 6.00-8.00pm
Details TK
More dates to follow…
A question for you: Shall I meet up with your book club or crew?
I’d be really happy to join you and your community at a bookshop or other fun, conducive location in London or just outside of London. But I’m putting out to you…you might be mates with the local bookshop owner or wine bar proprietor and be fired up enough to assemble 40-plus people in one room for a fun book/life chat? Feel free to message my publisher Dan (dan@eye-books.com) with details including a suggested date and time September 1-6. Ya never know!
Plus a request! Media help!
For this book I am responsible for media coverage - you know, plugging the book so that the thing gets read. Alas, to be really frank, I have struggled to get UK connects in media to… simply reply to emails. It’s been something of a phenomenon. I do wonder if it is about overwhelm and adjustment to Brexit issues - I know the economy is really struggling. I just read this on Ian Leslie’The Ruffian this week:
Americans could stop working each year on September 27th and they’d still be richer than Britons working for the whole year. There are car wash managers in Alabama who earn three times the median UK salary. If the UK continues with the same rate of growth it has enjoyed over the last decade, Poland will be richer than us by about 2035…
Britain is running the infrastructure of a rich country with the income of a poor one.
Anyway, much to say on this, but for now I guess I’m using this bit at the bottom of the post to invite TV, print or radio journalists (or producers), bookstagrammers or TikTok wizards to connect with me if they’d like to chat all things Wild and Precious. This grab of the UK cover gives the vibe of what we could chat about:
If this interests please comment below or contact Liana via email (media@sarahwilson.com). We’ll happily send a copy of the book and various details, including extract selections, images etc.
Boy, I’d appreciate it! And we will reply!
Sarah xx
