Thanks for the update, Sarah and David! I actually cried with relief this morning upon reading some positive news about the state of our planet. Of course, we'll keep pushing and making changes, but it's SO incredibly wonderful to hear that the efforts so many have been making are starting to have an impact. Keep up the great work everyone. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do, and thank you Sarah for keeping us all up to date and informed on the issues mainstream media sometimes avoid.

Thanks. Sarah, for helping us understand all this a little better. It astounds me how you manage to keep abreast of it as I found it all a bit overwhelming. On a day when Melbourne woke to '0' while our Brit and Euro friends swelter under 40 degrees, it's so apparent we have big issues before considering all the other stats you provide.

I must read more of Rowson's work about the meta-crisis - I'll check out that essay.

Thanks again. Be safe, Be well. xx

Hey, are you doing any events or chats etc in London? Love to explore this more (particularly as I’ve melted in London the past few days!).

I can’t tell you how much I needed some um.. better news Re climate. It is such a source of anxiety for me - I have been doing everything I personally can whilst trying not to “frighten the children” but it can really get to me. I recently started a new job and joined the Sustainability Working Group - it’s a school and a rather fancy one. I see some well meaning people trying to do the right thing but I have a sinking feeling that it’s all a bit of window dressing. Any thoughts on calling out greenwashing at your new place of work when you’re a newbie? I have a sense of urgency about all this which I don’t see in the rest of the group.

Hi Sarah!

I've also been travelling around Europe for the past month and have enjoyed listening to your podcasts around the world. As I feared, I ended up getting badly sick from COVID and missing my friends wedding - the whole point for going to Europe.

Once I could venture out into the world again, my boyfriend and I listened to this podcast on a beach in Spain where it was a billion degrees. As I listened and looked around at the people sweltering in the heat and how polluted the beach was, I couldn't help but think what are all these people going to do in the future with temperatures rising? The heat was almost unbearable even now.

On the one hand, I found this episode really encouraging that, thankfully, things aren't as bad as we thought they would be. But on the other hand, things are still really very bad: our home, this beautiful planet which I love so much and the ability of humans to live here is screwed up and worsening. The fact that the climate scientists have moved to 'adaptation' plans is terrifying. I still feel panicky when I see how slow change is, especially in Australia.

When I was protesting to save a beautiful space in my local area from development and have it returned to protected park status, I was encouraging someone close to me to help, who would have been adversely affected if the development went ahead and she said: "I know that people like you will sort it out." And that's how I feel about the climate crisis, that on the whole, people think that other people, like us, will take care of it. Then I console myself with the fact that, when you look back on progress in the world, which I think you talk about in your Wild book - we don't need everyone, we just need enough people.

Thankyou for doing another climate episode, I'm so bereft and scared by the whole thing, but yet adamantly refusing to give up. Onwards!

Panic is not appropriate because it's is being used against you. Solar? Is oil a rear earth element? That is a must for Solar Panels. So tell me which are you going to run out of first? Which costs less money and energy? Taking 1 ton of precursor elements into orbit or dropped into earth's gravity well and transported down to earth using SpaceX technology? Which Biden and friends are attempting to destroy because they don't like Elon's politics or won't bend over for WEF. That's enough on the political point because it was not directly relevant or is it? Who of you if you had a choice. Who would you get rid of? A dangerous old man pointing nukes at you. Or a bunch of old dangerous men running death camps and pointing nukes at you?

Loved the podcast ep! And today’s! The sensemaking theories were helpful as I read The State of the Environment report.

Spent the day walking the emotional tightrope between relief we have a government that will release the report and baffled that the same people who released the report can think it’s okay to continue with all the gas and coal mines 🤯

Thank goodness for your pods and newsletters though 💗
