Last year at the Christmas dinner table … a relative and partner (they weren’t present) had just built a 6 bedroom 4 bathroom home . No children and a huge income from the mining industry. I got on my high horse “that’s ridiculous and unnecessary”. A young luncher , no relationship to the house builders jumped to their defence saying that they should be able to build whatever they like. I said well of course they can but it’s wasteful to build and maintain something that you have no need for just because you can and therein lies the problem with humanity and all the problems we are facing. He didn’t get it and I was frowned upon for spoiling the conversation. I Don’t know what you are supposed to do in these situations. Should you just leave people in their ignorant bliss? Sit and smile sweetly Won’t be too long and everyone is going to be aware
